ENICAR watches started appearing on the world since 1914. The company founded at La Chaux-de-Fonds and was mainly aimed at making lever watches with a wide palette of movements. Its name "Enicar" has no other special meaning but because of the Swiss family named "Racine" created it.
Just couples of years before the so-called "Quartz Revolution", Enicar made its own in-house movements. The factory has its tough sports watch series named "Sherpa" with implications of withstanding rough working environments. Members of a Swiss Himalayan expedition proofed this in 1956. In 1956 and 1960, Japan's South Pole exploration team appointed it twice as their official watch, not their own national product!
